We all know that internet service is a fundamental requirement these days. It is very important to your tenants, and that makes it very important to you. The Aditum Internet Management System gives building owners and managers a way to provide the quality internet service tenants demand and generate additional operating margin for the building in the process.
Tenants expect internet connectivity to be present; not just in their apartments and tenant spaces, but in common areas as well. In a mixed-use building, the expectations around internet connectivity extend to guests of the commercial tenant, too.
Beyond mere ‘connectivity’, more and more tenants are able to discern quality differences in the internet service being provided. Some of this is driven by the type of usage. While a one second delay in sending or receiving an email is almost imperceptible, a one second delay in streaming a Netflix program is intolerable.
Closely tied to the quality question is determining how many of your tenants will demand a higher level of internet service. Fortunately, the Pew Research Center provides some answers.
Pew reported the results of recent study under the title “About a quarter of U.S. adults say they are ‘almost constantly’ online”, the actual number being 26%. An additional 43% go online several times a day, and roughly 77% go online once per day.
When we first saw those numbers, we thought it must be mobile devices driving that level of usage. But mobile usage numbers are higher still; 31% online constantly and about 89% online daily.
And there are demographic differences. The ‘constantly online’ numbers for 18-29-year-olds and 30-49-year-olds are 39% and 36% respectively.
All of which means there are likely to be more highly discerning, quality-oriented internet users than one might think. And with each passing year, there are more of them in the age cohorts most likely to be your tenants.
Two opportunities for building owners and managers that present themselves in these demographic trends. One is obvious: by providing high-quality internet service, you can differentiate your offerings, attract the discerning tenants, and more quickly fill open spaces. The catch is the service needs to be high-quality, commercial grade, not consumer-grade, which is what the cable company normally drags to the door.
The Aditum Internet Management service offers a solution for building owners and managers to easily provide high-quality internet service to tenants and their guests. We bring commercial-grade internet to the building and distribute it through Aditum. The difference between commercial-grade internet service and consumer-grade internet service is substantial, from the level of redundancy in the delivery networks to the quality of the service personnel that maintain the system.
The other opportunity may not be so obvious. Building owners and managers that utilize Aditum are not just distributing the internet service, they are reselling the internet service. Every month there is additional operating income for the building coming from the resale of internet service to every tenant. The Aditum system manages everything. It is easy to deploy and use, it offers the high-quality service tenants demand, it helps keep the building ahead of the technology curve, and it throws off additional revenue.
